Since we still have some unused champagne and lots of mint leaves left over from last night, here's what we are drinking this NYD NOW! We didn't have a lot of the ingredients so this is how we substituted
.
WHAT GOES IN IT
1 Tsp Fresh shaved ginger (Substitute 1oz Ginger Ale)
1 lime quartered
5-7 mint leaves
1 oz simple syrup
1 1/2 oz light rum (we were out so we used Spiced)
Top off with Champagne
HOW TO MAKE IT:
Put everything in except for champagne and shake vigorously (you're supposed to muddle it, but we don't have a muddler) and top with champagne.

Cocktails Made Mild- Tasty Drinks for Pregnant Ladies
One of my lady friends recently got pregnant, which sucks for both of us because she is a super fun party girl. She's still super fun, but it still sucks to not be able to go out and drink a cocktail with everybody.
So Dear Husband and I decided to remedy that.
We came up with non-alcoholic drinks that mimic regular cocktails, and made a basket with all the ingredients. I also learned how to make different flavored simple syrups to give the different tastes, and they are pretty fun to play around with.
I poorly designed a recipe book, printed it out and stapled it. If I had more time, I would have printed it out on card stock, three hole punched the side and made binders out of ribbons. Sadly I suck, but there's a good idea for you.
Here's some of the recipes. Also I love crappy fonts. I don't care. This was is called Angelic War. Whatevers. Haters gonna hate.

Make Your Own Simple Syrup
Ok, so I have a much more in depth blog about making a little bit of an ass out of myself, and some reflection coming but in the mean time, we made simple syrup this weekend so that our cocktails we make turn out extra bad ass. And it's super easy.
1 re-sealable bottle (We use Grolsch beer bottles, because you get to drink it first)
1 oz water
1 Cup Sugar
Boil the water and sugar together, then pour into a cleaned resealable bottle.
You can also make different flavors by replacing the water with different juices. We used a lemonade mango, cran-pomegranate, and blueberry this weekend.

Pumpkin Champagne Cocktail
I love all things pumpkin, so October and November are a great time of year for me, so Joel helped me turn a champagne-hard cider recipe into a fall cocktail. After having one glass served in a champagne flute we decided it was best served in a pint glass because it goes down far too easy.
Ingredients:
3-4 oz Champagne
2 oz Pumpkin Hard Cider
Dash Pumpkin Pie Spice
Dash Cinnamon
Dash ground cloves
Mix it up:
Fill a pint glass or mixer with ice and put in the spices first. Then pour in the cider and shake. Strain into your champagne flute (or pint glass if needed) and top with champagne.
